The London Rowing PT : Weights & Cardio Coaching

Meet Miranda: The only PT for rowing and cross training enthusiasts based in West & SW London

With over 30 years experience of training with weights and a passion for rowing, I’m the London-based PT who specialises in one to one strength and conditioning coaching tailored for rowers – whether you’re a novice, a seasoned athlete or simply curious about the sport. My land-based training approach is also effective for athletes from other sports looking to improve their performance, as well as those starting their fitness journey looking to have a purpose for their workouts.

I offer precision training in rowing-orientated movements for the whole body by using weights, cardio or body weight exercises, all of which will be low impact. I can spot imbalances and weakness, and work to correct them. I am passionate about doing it right and getting the results you want – and making them sustainable. See my About me page for details of my experience and qualifications, including how British Rowing selected me, as one of only 40 coaches across the country, for a ground-breaking coaching initiative.

Why we should all be working out with weights

The value of keeping muscles strong and toned by using weights is widely acknowledged. However, load-bearing exercises do more than just enhance muscle strength; they also play a crucial role in maintaining the health of tendons, ligaments and bones. If you participate in sports, strong muscles alone are insufficient for peak performance. Strong tendons and ligaments are also essential as they support your muscles and help prevent injuries. Think how many sessions lost to injury can be avoided by adding just one session of S&C a week.

BUT… it isn’t as simple as walking into your gym and picking up some dumbbells. There are four important points to know, which only a PT experienced with both rowing and weights will understand.
