What to expect
Meet Miranda: Your expert PT in weight training for rowing and cross training enthusiasts in West & SW London
With over 33 years experience of training with weights and a passion for rowing, I’m the PT who specialises in one to one strength and conditioning coaching for rowers – from novices to seasoned athletes, as well as those curious about the sport . My land training approach is also effective for athletes involved in other sports looking to enhance their fitness through the rigorous and rewarding methods of competitive rowing training.
Based in a tideway rowing club gym on the border of west and SW London, what I offer is precision training in rowing-orientated movements for the whole body. I will spot any imbalances or weakness and work to correct them. I am passionate about doing it right and getting the results you want – and making them sustainable. See my About me page for details of my experience and qualifications, including how British Rowing selected me, as one of only 40 coaches across the country, for a ground-breaking coaching initiative.
Why we should all be working out with weights
The value of keeping muscles strong and toned by using weights is widely acknowledged. However, load-bearing exercises do more than just enhance muscle strength; they also play a crucial role in maintaining the health of tendons, ligaments, and bones. If you participate in sports, strong muscles alone are insufficient for peak performance. Strong tendons and ligaments are essential as well, as they support your muscles and help prevent injuries. Think how many sessions lost to injury can be avoided by adding just 1 session of S&C a week.
BUT… it isn’t as simple as walking into your gym and picking up some dumbbells. There are four important points to know, which only a PT experienced with both rowing and weights will understand.
